I thought it’d be a fun idea to use Google’s new Street View feature to take a drive from the top of Manhattan to the bottom. I decided to drive along Broadway since it goes through the entire city from top to bottom starting way uptown where it is US-9 all the way to 1 Broadway down in the Financial District.
Check out the video:
Things to note:
- Broadway is a REALLY boring street. There really isn’t much going on, especially way north. It gets more fun around midtown though.
- My fingers are killing me.
- Sometimes google has you going the right way on the wrong side of the street. For most of the Upper West Side I was going against traffic. This must mean they only grab views from one side, but there was a big median blocking the other side of the road!
- I got REALLY lost around Columbus Circle and went around it about 3 times.
- Broadway just STOPS in a few places like Times square and Union Square.
- When did lower Broadway get renamed to The Canyon of Heros?!
I encourage other people to post on YouTube things like their walk to work, their own tour of their favorite places around town, and other crazy ideas for the new Google Maps!
