A pair of hoax ads on Craigslist cost an Oregon man much of what he owned.

The ads popped up Saturday afternoon, saying the owner of a Jacksonville home was forced to leave the area suddenly and his belongings, including a horse, were free for the taking, said Jackson County sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Colin Fagan. But Robert Salisbury had no plans to leave.

On his way home he stopped a truck loaded down with his work ladders, lawn mower and weed eater. “I informed them I was the owner, but they refused to give the stuff back,” Salisbury said. “They showed me the Craigslist printout and told me they had the right to do what they did.”

The driver sped away after rebuking Salisbury. On his way home he spotted other cars filled with his belongings. Once home he was greeted by close to 30 people rummaging through his barn and front porch.

The trespassers, armed with printouts of the ad, tried to brush him off. “They honestly thought that because it appeared on the Internet it was true,” Salisbury said. “It boggles the mind.” (Link)

Holy crap Lolz and our pal Matt Haggerty launched Subway Crush! The site allows New Yorkers who make googly eyes at people on the train to connect on the web. Think of it as Missed Connections on Craigslist except way way way better. We’ve gotten a lot of press about it lately and are excited about it. Let us know what you think!

Holy crap we updated the look of our blog! Not only that, but in the coming week we’ll be updating our main site with an actual portfolio as well as a bandwidth destroying flash experience. News on that is forthcoming…

ANYWAY….

The greatest thing about this new blog stuff is that it is now the epicenter for all that is lolz on the internet during that given day. It’s needless to say the people at Lolz LLC spend a good amount of time screwing around on the internet so we come across a lot of weird stuff. So now, our blog is a one stop shop for anything that we feel is lolz-worthy. Subscribe to the RSS feed or bookmark us and you’ll get updates to what’s cool/funny/weird as soon as we spot it.

How are we doing this?

We love tumblr and all have personal tumblr blogs. We feel like it’s the best way to capture lolz on the spot using it’s clever bookmarklet. We set up a group lolz tumblr that we use as a repository for everything we find. Then through the magic of FeedWordPress and our base wordpress install we pull everything over automatically to this site. It’s internet magic. Let us know if you have any problems or think of ways to improve it.
